Stem Cell Therapy

We are Part of a Global Effort Pioneering Stem Cell Treatment

We operate as part of an IRB-approved Clinical Research Program, affiliated with the Cell Surgical Network® and registered at clinicaltrials.gov, investigating the optimal procedures and protocols in order to achieve tissue regeneration and disease modification for a number of degenerative and inflammatory disorders.
Our site enrolls patients with arthritis and musculoskeletal disorders, rheumatoid and inflammatory arthritis, autoimmune diseases, multiple sclerosis, as well as several other chronic disease conditions. More information about our protocols can be found at stemcellrevolution.com.

We are dedicated to cutting edge, highly professional procurement and delivery of autologous mesenchymal stem cells. This field is exciting for us, as well as for our co-investigators, and being able to offer such innovative stem cell therapy is a privilege, though it comes with great responsibility.

What is a Stem Cell?

Our bodies are born with trillions of stem cells. Stem cells are precursor cells designed to be stimulated by the body’s future need to regenerate. In essence, these cells are “blank slates” that can become whatever the body needs. We naturally use these cells throughout our lives to replenish damaged areas and to keep ourselves functioning properly. Stem cells are capable of “turning into” tissue of various types when the body sends out biochemical messages that cause these cells to activate. We call this process “differentiation”. Their role in our health is to aid in the regeneration and regrowth of damaged or aging structures. They serve this function throughout our lives, and also exhibit profound anti-inflammatory properties. Stem cells are distributed throughout our bodies, just waiting for signals to become triggered and start the process of tissue regeneration.

There are several types of stem cells. This is often a source of confusion and misunderstanding. Embryonic stem cells, for example are cells that appear very early in the developing human embryo and which have the potential to become any tissue. In fact, these are the cells that often talked about in

discussions of individual cloning and which raise many emotional , religious, legal and ethical issues.

Adult stem cells, in contrast, are the cell types that we seek in regenerative medicine. These cells are present in people of all ages and have a more limited ability to differentiate into various tissues.

The type of stem cells that we seek are “Mesenchymal Stem Cells”. These stem cells can be found distributed throughout or bodies and reside in adipose tissue ( fat). They can also be found within the bone marrow. These MSC’s have the ability to differentiate into several tissue types: fat, muscle, cartilage, bone, and nerves. In addition, they provide important chemical signals to nearby tissue and immune cells to promote the healing process, regulate the immune system and reduce inflammation.

Our research protocols involve harvesting tissue from either fat or bone marrow and through a series of steps, isolating the stem cells. We perform these procedures in the office setting, using careful sterile procedures. In just a few hours, we are able to obtain millions of stem cells, which are then available for administration to the patient. Of course, since the stem cell “donor” is also the recipient of the MSC’s, there are no concerns about tissue rejection.

  • Dr. Lans is indeed an amazing Doctor. On my first visit, he was kind caring and patient. He answered all my questions and asked me questions about my problems and how we could fix them. He didn't rush through my visit and was very thorough. Dr. Lans is a rare find. He is a very warm and genuine Doctor. I would give him 10 stars if I could! I wish I could still see him as my Doctor but he no longer accepts my insurance. Dr. Lans is Wonderful, Amazing, Caring, and Intelligent! Just a Great Doctor indeed!

  • I can’t say enough about how wonderful and professional Dr. David Lans is. I have been having trouble with my ankle since last November. In that time I have had three MRI’s and been to four different doctors. The last option was to have surgery. I was referred to Dr. Lans and traveled to New York to have a stem cell procedure done. Dr. Lans explained to me every step of the way what was going to happen and what I would be feeling and helped me to relax since I was a little nervous as to what “stem cell” was. After the treatment, it took a couple of weeks to really start feeling better. It has now been three months and I am NOT in pain anymore. I am the happiest that I didn’t do the surgery and went with Dr. Lans. It will still take a little more time for my ankle to be back to normal but I am well on my way. THANK YOU DR. LANS

  • Across the 16+ years during which Dr. Lans provided primary care as well as specific treatments for me, I came to understand, respect and appreciate what I am certain is only a small part of the considerable breadth and scope he brings to the task. Where medicine is a blend of science and art, he brings the best in command of broad knowledge and distills practical wisdom and insight from clinical experience, and from my observation, his thinking and judgment are not bound by convention or other potentially limiting factors.

  • I went for years with undiagnosed symptoms and within two visits Dr. Lans had diagnosed the problem! Although having a chronic illness has a huge downside, he is open to trying alternative therapies and he is extremely respectful of every patient he sees. If you no longer trust Doctors or if you have been seen by abusive caregivers, give Dr. Lans a chance. He is the only reason I am as well as I am today.
